Friend Trees

This is a photo I took back in the spring, in warmer days. No wonder the tree is sad, it's split.

My kid talks about "friend trees", and when they look out our back yard, they say the friend tree is talking to them. Then they ask me if I have a friend tree. I have a favourite tree in a local park. It's the tallest tree in the area, and somehow managed to survive the logging that I'm sure happened years ago. The sun sets behind it, and I took this shot last year, filtered through my sunglasses!

when was the last time i posted a REAL post? i don't have an answer for that, but i presume it was at least a month ago. i've had a busy fall but that's not an excuse. excuses are for people who try to justify their priorities. i haven't been here simply because it hasn't been a priority. but here i am...

i've spent the better part of the past month studying. that's about all i want to say about that. i also have a road trip coming up for work. again, no more needs to be said about that.

on a more fun note, i've been to 2 live shows recently. an acoustic show by ron hawkins. a fine show that was sparsely attended, sadly. he's a very talented, witty fellow. the second show was at the same venue two nights later. the place was packed to see the rheostatics. i didn't get home until 3am that night. i think i'm still recovering... hah!

cbc is having a 'national playlist', where you can vote for the top 10 songs that should be on the playlist. i vote whenever i remember, for the weakerthans song 'aside', which, i recently found out, is in the movie 'wedding crashers'.

vote for the weakerthans, or another fantastic song by a band called Bedouin Soundclash, and their reggae/ska song 'when the night feels my song'. i dare you not to dance to this song when you hear it. anyone who doesn't smile while hearing this song is just trying too hard to be a grump.
